Another DJI drone released: DJI Mavic Air 2...Do I want/need it? Will it live up to the hype?

I must admit that after seeing the video of the release, the increased camera performance, increased flight/battery time, it is more compact and portable than I have ever seen. Being a fan of DJI products and having previously owned most of the different DJI models throughout the years only to upgrade to the latest model, I reached for my wallet. However, something inside of me allowed me to pause and reflect on what I was purchasing and why? I am more than pleased with my DJI Mavic Pro 2, the quality of its video and photos and its overall performance. There is always room for improvement, and I am sure DJI is already working on the DJI Mavic Pro 3. Do I want to purchase this drone to replace my DJI Mavic Pro 2? Absolutely not! Would it be a cool thing to have as a backup drone? I think so. But am I really going to use it enough to justify the cost? I should also mention that I owned the DJI Mavic Air for approximately 3-4 weeks at one point before returning it due to several reasons. The functionality of the drone was poor with major connectivity problems, the quality of the photos and videos were good 50% of the time since the other 50% was spent on trying to correct the connection. Why would I want an upgraded version of something I had high expectations for and was able to tell within minutes of its first flight that this drone would not satisfy my need for reliability, quality video and photos, and overall functionality? So, I am passing up on purchasing the new shiny toy that is begging me to pull out my credit card and fighting the impulse buy with past experiences and rationale. If someone were to gift me a DJI Mavic Air 2, I would not be complaining. For the present time I am sticking with the DJI Mavic Pro 2.
